On February 11, 1858, James married Elizabeth Smith in Jackson County, Missouri.[2]
According to the 1860 census, James lived with Elizabeth and their daughter in Jackson County.[3]
According to the 1900 census, James lived with Elizabeth and their children, Charles, Thomas, and William in Bates County, Missouri.[4]
James died on February 20, 1917 in Bates County.[1]
He is buried in the West Point Cemetery in Bates County.[5]
