GARDIOL
My 2nd great grandmother's last name was Gardiol. She was a Huguenot from northern Italy; her community had migrated to Italy from France centuries before. I'd like to learn more about their history, DNA, language, culture, etc.

DNA Tested
Jodi Dalton's DNA has been tested for genealogical purposes. It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Jodi or other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Jodi:

Hi Jodi,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. The New Member How-Tos are for you to work at your own pace. If you had a chance to review any of it, was it helpful?

If you have questions about how WikiTree works, I'm here to help. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page. I'll get back to you by the end of the day.

PS Did you discover that the Gardiol surname tag on your profile is a clickable link? It will take you to a page of other people who research the surname and a bunch of links which might be helpful. You can add more surname tags, up to 20 total

I see you added the DNA tag to your profile. Here are a few links & tips to help you along in the journey of WikiTree and DNA.

It's not hard to add DNA test information to profiles on WikiTree, just make sure you add the tests to the actual test participant's profile & set the Privacy to ‘Private w/ Public Biography & Family Tree’ to show the tester's part of our tree. For help see  How to DNA on WikiTree

Here's a great YouTube video with all sorts of questions answered Getting Started with DNA.

Hi Jodi,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Your tag comment suggests that the [1] Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Click my name, then ask in the comments on my profile.

If you want to learn about your great grandmother through DNA, then her DNA would be best. If she is deceased, you have two remaining options. We all carry our mother’s mtDNA, so your great grandmother’s DNA passed to her daughters, then their daughters and so on down. In addition, all her descendants carry her atDNA, in ever-decreasing doses with each generation.

Thank you for volunteering. You are now a full member of WikiTree.

Start with the New Member How-To Pages - they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around:

Let me know if you require assistance. I am happy to help. After adding my own family and ancestors I have found many cousins and distant ancestors here on WikiTree.
