Sydney Aitkins Dalton was born on 8 December 1878 in Berwick, Victoria, Australia, son of Catherine Lamont (Craik) Dalton and William Aitkins Dalton.[1]
He was a Blacksmith at Berwick when he joined the 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen/Australian Imperial Regiment (A.I.R.) (regimental number 53). He sailed from Port Melbourne on the "Victorian" on 1 May 1900 for South Africa.[2][3]
Sydney died on 1 May 1951 at 90 Collins Street in Mentone, Victoria, aged 72 years.[4]
