Biography

Winston was born in 1780. He was the son of John Dalton and MaryAnn Flannagan. He passed away in 1850.

Deed

Creek and he paid 102 pounds fifteen schillings of Virginia Currency for it. This is a copy of the deed from Pittsylvania County Courthouse in Chatham, [3] This indenture made this the fourth day October one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, Between Martin Dalton of Pittsylvania County and State of Virginia of the one part and David Rorrer of said county and state of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Martin Dalton for and in consideration of one hundred two pounds 15 shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said David Rorrer, the receipt whereof the said Martin Dalton doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and sold and confirmed unto the said David Rorrer his heirs and assigns forever one hundred and thirty seven acres of land ( be the same more or less) lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on both sides of Kents Creek and bounded as follows (Viz) Beginning at the mouth of Hogpen Branch thence along Winston Dalton's line North fifty five degrees West fifty eight poles to a small persimmon tree in Toler's line, thence his line North forty six degrees East East eighty five poles North twenty nine degrees East one hundred forty four poles to a red oak in Snows line, thence his line South fifty nine degrees East sixty four poles to a pine in the older line thence the same South thirteen degrees West two hundred and eleven poles to the Hogpen Branch, thence the same to the beginning.To have and to hold the said one hundred and thirty seven acres of land and all and singularly the premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof unto the said David Rorrer his heirs and assigns forever and the said Martin for himself and his heirs the said one hundred and thirty seven acres of land and premises and every part and parcel thereof against him and against him and his heirs and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever to the said David Rorrer his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said Martin Dalton and Catherine his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals the date above written. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us; Bartlett Bennett Horatio Bennett William his X mark Dalton Martin Dalton and seal Catharine Dalton and seal

Memorandum that the day and year within mentioned full peaceable and quiet posession and delivery of the within mentioned premises was made and delivered by the said within mentioned Martin Dalton unto the said mentioned David Rorrer, to have and to hold to him and his heirs and assigns forever according to the meaning and intent of the within written Indenture--- Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence of us, Bartlett Bennett Horatio Bennett William his X mark Dalton Martin Dalton and seal Catharine Dalton and seal Received of David Rorrer the full sum of One Hundred and Two Pounds fifteen shillings end of Deed [4] [5]

Winston was a school teacher in Pittsylvania County, VA and Kept a Journal. Winston is a descendant of Timothy Dalton SR. (B. Abt 1700 D. Abt 1767 Albemarle County VA) and Elizabeth. Thanks in advance for your help. [7]
