HAVERHILL — Richard L. "Dick" Daly, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at his home, following an extended illness.
Son of the late Charles and Helen (Melanson) Daly, he attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School. He retired as an analyst from Lucent Technologies after 42 years of service and was a member of the Communication Workers of America and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
A member of Saint James Parish, The Crescent Yacht Club, The Saint Joseph Bowling League, and The Merrimack Valley Horseshoe League, Mr. Daly enjoyed traveling, bowling, motorcycle riding, pitching horseshoes, and boating. He was also an avid Boston and New England sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Steven R. Daly and a brother, John Daly.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Saint James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
