Patrick was born in 1832. He married Ellen Maria McCarthy at St. Patrick's Church in Liverpool on August 28, 1859.[1]
Patrick Joseph Daly had at least two sisters. One sister was named Anastasia. She married a man named Ed Campbell. It is not known whether they had any children. The Daly girls referred to her as Auntie Campbell. The other sister was named Mary. She married a man named Tobin. They lived in New York state and had four children.
As far as we know, the oldest child of Patrick Joseph Daly and Mary Ellen McCarthy was Catherine. She died as a young girl before the birth of Louisa Teresa Daly. The second child was Anastasia. She married Dennis John O’Dwyer. They had a family of seven children. The third member of the family was John Henry, or Sonny. Others in the family called him Uncle Sonny. He was a bachelor throughout his life. He came to America when he was about 20 with his sisters Nellie and Louisa. The fourth family member was Patrick. Nothing more is known about him. The fifth member of the family was Mary Ellen. Nellie, as she was known, was named after her mother. The sixth and seventh children were Louisa Teresa and Joseph.
It is not known which was older. Their mother may have died in childbirth with the youngest one.[2]
