James was born in 1823, he was a soldier in the Mexican War and he was a confederate soldier killed during the Red River Campaign in a battle at Mansfield, De Soto Parish, Louisiana about April or May of 1864. He lived in Houston County, Texas in 1850 and was married to Sarah Platt.
This James M. Daniel is likely a brother or cousin to William J. Daniel who was married to Susan Teague b. 1831. After his death Susan married John Calvert "Bud" Hallmark.
