Biography
An only child, Clare was born in 1906 to Samuel Daniel and Clara Daniel (nee Chilver) in Traralgon, Victoria. Sadly, her mother passed away when she was 3 years old, and she was raised by Samuel and Clara's brother and sister (there were 3 marriages amongst the Daniel and Chilver families). Samuel fought in World War I and returned to take up land in Warragul. Clare was her father's housekeeper and when she met and married Cecil Silby, he remained with them. They had 3 children, Dawn, Gilbert and John. Cecil died in 1972 after a heart attack. Clare continued to live in Warragul and after a short illness, passed away in 1991.
