↑ 2.02.12.22.32.42.5 Flowers left for Thomas Daniels Note: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=fls&FLid=40816006 Note: Moulton Weekly Tribune THURSDAY, JULY 27, 1950 Tom Daniels Dean Merchant Called By Death Thomas Clarence Daniels was born in Highland county, Ohio, June 22, 1876 and passed away at his home in Dean, Iowa, July 20, 1950, at the age of 74 years and 28 days. His health begun failing on April 14, and on June 8, he was taken to a hospital where he remained for 21 days, and then returned to his home to spend his last days, while everything possible was done to help him regain his health. Tom, as he was known to his friends, came to Appanoose county with his parents at the age of 5 years, and grew to manhood there on a farm southwest of Dean. He clerked in a store at Dean until he was 22 years old. In 1901 he was married to Maude Ulrich and to this union five sons were born: Clifton of Nampa, Idaho; Derrell, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Edwin (deceased); Edward, of Nampa, Idaho, and Edgar, of Caldwell, Idaho. In 1929 he was united in marriage to Marie Stites and one son, Clarence, of Dean, was born to them After 35 years of traveling with one grocery concern, ending in 1933, he went into business for himself and was successful for 17 years, and active in his store until a short time before his death. He was active in many of the important community affairs. He was a charter member of the I. O. O. F., member of the Rebekah Lodge, and was a 32nd degree Mason belonging to the Des Moines Consistory, a member in good standing for the past 29 years. Tom Daniels through his lifetime remained one of the leading citizens of Dean and community, respected wherever he went as one who believed in and practiced the principles of fairness, honesty, integrity, understanding and fair dealing with his fellow men. Many who will mourn his passing will long remember Tom Daniels as their friend and as one who could be turned to in the hour of need He was a God fearing man whose righteous, honest life was lived according to the dictates of his own conscience. His passing is truly great loss to this community. Funeral services were held at the Hilltown Christian church, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Stanley Bartlett, and Rev. Lloyd Ellis, of Des Moines. Burial was in Hilltown cemetery. Graveside rites were conducted by the Moulton Masonic Lodge.
