Biography

Birth

There is a discrepancy on his birth date. The birth record of Wayne County, West Virginia shows his birth date was 1 May 1881 James H. Daniels, son of Harrison and Hester Daniels. [1] The World War I Draft Registration for James H. Daniels gives his birth date as 17 May 1882. [1] The same date is also given on his World War II Draft Registration which shows his birth date was 17 May 1882. [2] Since his sister Louisa was born in March 1881 it seems likely James was born in 1882. The Wayne County birth records have numerous inconsistencies. Sometimes births weren't recorded until quite awhile after the event when memories had become vague.
