Biography

Catherine Darcus was born about 1789, probably in the city of Londonderry. She was the daughter of Henry Darcus and Mary Speer.^[1]

Research notes

• The estimated year of birth is based on the implied birth order stated in Betham's abstract of the last will and testament of Catherine Darcus's maternal uncle, Alexander Speer (d.1794);^[1]—and using the year of birth implied in the 1849 death notice for Catherine's brother, Solomon Darcus (1785–1849), as a reference point.^[2]
