Lionel was born in 1742. He was the son of Lionel Darell and Honoria Hardwick. He married Isabella Tullie, daughter of Timothy Tullie in 1766. [1]
Sir Lionel was Chairman of the Court of Directors, of the Honourable East India Company. He was a Colonel in the India-House Volunteer Regiment. He held the office of Member of Parliament for Hendon between 1784 and 1802. The Darell Baronetcy, of Richmond Hill in the County of Surrey, was created for him in the Baronetage of Great Britain on 12 May 1795.
He passed away in 1803. He is buried at St. Mary Magdalene, Richmond. [2]
