James was born in 1858. He was the son of John Darling and Mary Crosgrove. In 1861 James was 3 yrs, living with his parents and 5 sisters in Medway. <1851 England Census, RG9/480/56 pg 1> In 1871 Census, James was 13 yrs, living with his widowed mother and sister in Plumstead. <RG10 789 pg 10. In the 1881 Census, James is 23 yrs, a turner, living in Plumstead with his Widowed mother. < 1881 England Census RG11/750 pg 6. James is 45 yrs in the 1901 Census, living in Charlton, Greenwich. His niece, Nellie Power is with him. <<RG13/563 pg 44. He passed away in 1933.[1]
