Biography

Birth

Peter was born before 1755. [1]

Military Service

Peter served in the Revolutionary War in the 5th Regiment of MIlitia from New York as an enlisted man, first as a private and later as a sergeant.[2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

  • 1776: Dutchess County, New York, 5th Regiment.
  • 5-24 Sep 1778: Sergeant. Paid 2£ 13s 4d for service in Capt. Francis West's Company of Militia, Commanded by Col. James Vanderburgh, 5th Regiment, Dutchess County Militia, New York, USA.
  • 1781-1782: Paid 7£ 3s 5d on 6 Mar 1787 for service performed in Weissenfels' Regiment, New York Levies, in 1781-1782 under an Act by the Legislature passed in 1784.

He married Lydia Benson before 1779. [1] Peter is listed in the 1790 United States Census living with his family in Pawling, Dutchess, New York and in the 1800 United States Census living with his family in Rhynbeck (Rhinebeck), Dutchess, New York.
