Johnson Darnall was born on 20 Nov 1807 in Montgomery County, Kentucky as the son of Daniel Darnall (abt.1775-1851)[1] and Nancy (Turpin) Darnall (abt.1779-abt.1852) His mother is not yet substantiated - Need Birth Record showing parentage.
Three known siblings were: William Turpin Darnall (1800-1863)(1800-1863), Samuel Darnall (1804-1879), and Milton Darnall (1809-1886).[1]
In July 1960 parents Johnson (52) and Martha (49), 3 sons - Samuel Darnall (1804-1879)(1804-1879) (19), Daniel Thornton Darnall (1844-1927) (15), and Henry Clay (Darnall) Darnell (1847-1932) (commonly called "Clay") (13) and daughter, Martha Ann (Darnall) Gordon (1852-1890) (aka "Mattie")(8), were living in Franklin, Putnam, Indiana with four additional household members: Emily West (25) [i.e. Amelia or "Emily" or "Emille" Darnall West Lougston or Lanston whose names vacillate amongst various spellings and needs to be resolved)- Widowed and showing as owning real estate and having a personal estate valued at 6000 - (given name Emily may be an enumerator's error), two children Marg Nelson (8) and Rosette West (4) (a granddaughter to Johnson and Martha), and a servant Mary Scott (16). Emily has been determined to be a daughter of Johnson and Martha. Marg Nelson still needs to have a relationship substantiated (possibly a grandchild ... which of their children married a Nelson?). Rosette West was a granddaughter through Emily.[2]
On 23 Jun 1870, parents Johnston (62) and Martha A (Yates) Darnall (1811-1905) (59), son Henry Clay (23) (who was already working as a lawyer but still living in the family home), and daughter Martha Ann (Darnall) Gordon (1852-1890) (18) were living in Monroe, Putnam, Indiana.[3]
Johnson married Martha A (Yates) Darnall (1811-1905)[1] on 14 Jun 1827. [4]
Four children known to have been born to this union were: Mary B Darnall (1843-abt.1844), Daniel Thornton Darnall (1844-1927), Martha Ann (Darnall) Gordon (1852-1890), [1] and Henry Clay (Darnall) Darnell (1847-1932).[5]
On 22 May 1844, another daughter, not mentioned above, Nancy Darnall, married Daniel T Thornton in Indiana.[6] Note that this same daughter and her husband are two of many family members mentioned in Johnson's last will.[7]
Johnson migrated from Kentucky to Indiana (as evidenced with birth and death locations)[1] in 1833. [8]
On 5 Nov 1874, Johnson wrote and signed his last will which was clearly documented as witnessed and probated on 17 Jan 1876, eight days after his death on 9 Jan 1876.[7]
Johnson died on 9 Jan 1876 in Bainbridge, Putnam, Indiana and was buried at the Brick Chapel Cemetery in Brick Chapel, Putnam, Indiana, USA.[1]
NOTE: Not sure if all the substanted and unsubstantiated "info" got resolved. I've done my best for what I've found.
