Mr. Darnell, a native of Madison County, was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from GTE and a charter member of the Memorial Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. Darnell; two sons, David Darnell of Hazel Green and Greg Darnell of Birmingham; and two grandchildren.
