Biography

James C. Darnell was born on 7 Sep 1835 in Little Rock, Kendall, Illinois, as the sixth of ten children of John Darnell and Leah Jones.[1][1]

James lived in section 6, Squaw Grove Township in 1859 (except for 3 years in which he lived in Sandwich, IL.). He purchased 106 acres of land in 1859 and later purchsed an additional 80 acres for a total of 186 acres while living in DeKalb County.[2]

He was a Republican in his political views and a member of the Congregational church. For 7 years he officiated as school director.[2]

James married Susannah (Taylor) Darnell (1840-1912) (also seen as Susanna), the eldest daughter of William L Taylor (1818-1907) and Catherine Ann (Roberts) Taylor (1814-1864), on 3 Apr 1862 in Sycamore, DeKalb County, Illinois.[2][3][4][1]

On 1 Jul 1863, at the age of 27, he registered for the Civil War Draft.[5]

Four of his children were: Jessie B Darnell (1869-1910), Mary Elizabeth Darnell (1864-1889), Anna (Darnell) Hall (1867-1963) and Elizabeth D (Darnell) Davis (1864-1935).[1]

In 1910 James (74) and Susanna (68) were living alone at their home on 9th street in Plano, Kendall, IL.[6]

He passed away on 4 Sep 1912 in Plano, Kendall, Illinois and was buried there at the Little Rock Township Cemetery. [1]

OK - I have attempted to find a 2nd profile number on the 2nd John C Darnell, listed as siblings, for over 30 minutes - I find 1 and the other never comes up with a profile number ... at least it is NOT on the look for match page. John C Darnell is not a brother to himself and I cannot spend any more time trying to jump through loops to get it merged. Sorry.
