OBITUARY:

Wichita Daily Times (Wichita Falls, TX) June 1, 1954

--Edward Darnell Dies in Hearne-- Edward F Darnell, 69, retired sheet-metal worker and resident of Wichita Falls for 25 years, died Monday while he was visiting a daughter, Mrs E M Brady, in Hearne, Texas. He was born Feb 3, 1885. His address here was 1223 Thirty-second. Survivors include his wife, Mrs Maggie Darnell of Wichita Falls; three sons, D W of Wichita Falls, R E of Rising Star, Texas and C M of Borger, Texas; two daughters, Mrs Walter Carnes of Wichita Falls and Mrs Brady; a brother Bill of Ozark, Arkansas; a sister, Mrs Vic Kuenstler of Abilene, Texas; his stepmother, Mrs R H Darnell of Haskell, Texas; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday in the Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, with burial following in Crestview Memorial Park.

[Editor’s notes] The daughter E F was visiting was Catherine Evelyn Darnell, who was married to Edwin Matthews Brady Sr, hence her name is shown as “Mrs E M Brady.” His wife, listed as Mrs Maggie Darnell, was Maggie Virginia Nanny. His son, D W Darnell, was David Whitfield Darnell. He was always known as Jack. His son, R E Darnell, was Raleigh Edward Darnell. His son, C M Darnell, was Charles Melvin Darnell. His daughter, Mrs Walter Carnes, was Inez Evelyn Darnell. I have been unable to locate marriage information for this couple. Nor can I find any children from the union, however I believe there was at least one. And, I cannot find birth, death, or ancestry information regarding Walter Carnes. His brother, Bill, was William Henry Darnell. His sister, Mrs Vic Kuenstler, was Ada Viola Darnell. The lady listed in the obituary as his stepmother, Mrs R H Darnell, was his father’s third wife, Minnie B Fulgham. His biological mother was Sarah Catherine Dillion, who died in Scott County, Virginia in 1914. His father’s second wife (who would have also been his stepmother), was Margaret Trent, who passed away in 1935.
