Obituary:
Mr. J Dawson Darsey, of Milltown Ga, died about seven o'clock on August 4th, 1910 after a long illness. He had an attack of paralysis several years ago and has been in very bad health for the past five years. Sunday he had another attack from which he did not rally. His funeral was conducted yesterday at Alapaha Church graveyard and was largely attended. Mr. Darsey was one of the most prominent farmers in that section and he had a large circle of friends. He is survived by four daughters and a son. His daughters are Mrs. J. V. Talley, Mrs. Shuman, Mrs. Will Howell and Mrs. Taylor. His son is a lad of ten or twelve years. For many years Mr. Darsey lived on his farm between Naylor and Milltown, but after his paralytic attack several years ago he moved to milltown and has made that place his home since then. He was a good farmer and a popular citizen. He was a quiet man and attended strictly to his own affairs. His farm was one of the best in that section. His funeral yesterday was conducted by Rev. J. M. Meeks, of Milltown. The large crowd which attended the funeral attested the esteem in which the deceased was held. Mr. Darsey was about fifty-five years of age.
Joel was the son of James Anders and Nancy Carter Darsey. He was born in 1854 in Lowndes County Ga which is now part of Lanier County.
