Additionally, the Diary of Joshua Hempstead of New London, Connecticut [6] shows that in 1726 "Jno Hazen & Wid Eliz Darte publisht" i.e. published their intent to marry, clearly indicated she was the widow Darte, not the daughter of Daniel Dart.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Elizabeth [Darte] Hazen [1696-1717] as the wife of John Hazen is incorrect. Elizabeth Turner [1696-1736], daughter of Ezekiel Turner and Sarah Keeney, married Thomas Darte 9 May 1717, New London. After his death she married John Hazen as Elizabeth Dart 31 May 1726, New London. Early researchers seem to have assumed she was a Darte by birth rather than marriage. I have supporting evidence for those interested.
