Married William J. Bryant (b.c. 1834) 21 June 1870 in Putnam County, WV.[1] Sabilla was a young 19 years old to William's 35. She had come to Putnam County just after the civil war, and was the oldest of the children of Sarah Young and Jacob Daubenspeck.
Sabilla later married Solomon Reed. She died in Milton in 5 Oct 1919 and was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston, WV.[2][3] Scant little information on her COD, except that she was 68 years old, a housekeeper, and born in Pennsylvania. Lonnie/Johnnie/Sonnie, etc. (?) Kirby is the informant and L. C. Morrison the attending physician. Simpson was the undertaker. Sabilla died of stomach cancer.
Although we don't currently know who Kirby is, there is a Kirby Road off of US Rt. 64 in Milton.
[Most genealogists give her birth as 1850, but I believe it to be 1851. This belief is based on two things: the 1850 and 1860 US CENSUS data for Sabilla and her family. Please see the RESEARCH for Sarah Ann (Young) Daubenspeck for further analysis. - GSM]
Savila (sic) Daubenspeck, age 9, is in the 1860 U. S. Census with her parents and siblings, Concord Township, Butler, PA, family 755.[4] Household:
Sabilla is buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, West Virginia, in the Bryant family section. Lot 3. Her grave is unmarked, but there is a small, grass covered stone which might possibly mark her resting spot. She can be found by going to the record-keeper at Spring Hill. Have them look under Sabilla Reed, Sabilla Bryant, and Mrs. William Bryant.
