Historically, women did not take their husband's name at marriage in Nouvelle-France, and do not now in modern Québec....

This was only the case for a period of time from about 1805 (the "Code Napoléon") until 1981, when the "Code civil du Québec" was amended to prohibit any change of name for women at marriage.

If absolutely necessary, the husband's name should be shown only in the "Other last name(s)" (AKA).
