Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Donna, and welcome to WikiTree! You mentioned your ancestors in Ireland and England. I wanted to let you know we have a great new project that focuses on the UK here called United Kingdom Project which links to our Irish Roots Project They would be a great places for you to get involved once you have settled into WikiTree.

You may find some of your ancestors are already on WikiTree and the people in both projects will be happy to help you in any way they can.

Thank you so much for joining WikiTree. Good luck with your research.

And hi again Donna

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

You might also like to read the discussions tagged as GEDCOM in the G2G forum.

Happy WikiTreeing,

Maryann

Hi again Donna,

Thanks for volunteering to help grow our one world tree.

Please drop into our friendly Genealogist to Genealogist (G2G) forum to introduce yourself to other WikiTreers - you can access the G2G by selecting G2G Profile from your My WikiTree menu at the top right of most pages.

WikiTree can be a bit overwhelming at first, so don't hesitate to post your questions in the G2G.

Good luck with connecting your leaves and branches to our big tree,

Maryann

Hi! I'm researching my family tree, Swain and DeWitt on my dad's side and Carpenter, Liles and Lewis primarily on my mother's side. We are all most recently from Louisiana and then Mississippi, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and I'm finding early settlers (1600's) came from England, Ireland and the Netherlands. Having the most trouble with my Swain relatives, my father's direct lineage. Looking for any assistance and hope I can help others with their searches as well! Thanks!
