DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benona by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benona:
You are correct that there are a number of Benona Davenport's in this family around the same time.
There is Benona Davenport, born about 1800, married Martha Burdick, and died 21 Mar 1887. Here in Wikitree he is Davenport-7712.
Then there is the son Benona Davenport, born 5 Jun 1822, died 23 Feb 1915. Here in Wikitree he is Davenport-7929.
Then there is the grandson Benona Davenport, son of Philip Davenport, born 9 Apr 1870, died 28 Aug 1956. Here in Wikitree he is Davenport-7930.
And there could very well be more.
I THINK we have these three covered, but as I am very, very new to Wikitree, and still learning. I appreciate any help, and suggestions that you have.
Davenport-7907 and Davenport-7712 appear to represent the same person because: I propose this merge of Davenport-7712 (Benona Benjamin Davenport), with my 3 greats grandfather, Davenport-7907 (Benoni Davenport). My family usually spells his name as Benoni, I have also seen it spelled as Benona.
My 3 greats grandfather was born about 1799 in Connecticut.
He had a son, Nelson Davenport, born on 21 April 1832, in Four Corners, Rensselaer County, New York.
He had a son, my 2 greats grandfather, Philip Davenport, born about 1836, in Grafton, Rensselaer, New York.
My 3 greats grandfather died on 21 March 1887, in Crawford County, Wisconsin.
Because of these facts, I believe Davenport-7712 and Davenport-7907 are the same person and should merge.
Any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
