Biography
John was the son of Richard Davenport and Alice Burnes. He was baptised on 28 August 1643 at Swettenham, Cheshire. The parish register records "August 28vo. Johannes filius Richardi Davenport de Wheltrough de Prestbury et Alicia uxoris fuit baptizatus" (August 28th, John son of Richard Davenport and his wife Alice of Wheltrough of Prestbury was baptised).[1]
