We have a book written by Ernest Langford of College Station, Texas May 22, 1969. His book is titled "The Family of Thomas Dunn Davidson and Sarah Lenis Singleton Davidson". Below is the opening page of his book.

    • FOREWARD
  • James Davidson, father of Thomas Dunn Davidson whose descendants are

traced in these annals, was born November 12, 1795, died May 12, 1873; buried in Post Oak Bend cemetery in Travis County. As nearly as we have been able to ascertain, he came to Texas in 1856 and bought 100 acres of land on Post Oak Creek.

  • Mason Singleton, father of Sarah Lenis Singleton who married Thomas

Dunn Davidson, was born June 27, 1804, died November 3, 1892, and so far as is known was buried in Post Oak Bend cemetery.

  • The Davidson Singleton families became closely related as two of the Davidson sons married two of the Singleton daughters and a Davidson daughter married a Singleton son. According to records available at this time (1968)' Felix Grundy Davidson married Francis Lucy Singleton, Thomas Dunn Davidson married Sarah Lenis Singleton, and

Ohio Texana Davidson's first husband was James B. Singleton.

  • Our deepest regret in compiling these annals is that we have been unable to include more about all of these families. The task of compiling these notes about Thomas Dunn Davidson-Sarah Lenis Singleton Davidson family has been no easy one. It is hoped that another person--possibly a great-grandson or great-granddaughter--will undertake a similar task for other families. For after all, all of these Davidson's and Singletons have been highly respected and honorable people. They justly deserve that they be remembered by their

descendants for their devotion to law and order, for their unwavering belief in the principles of Democracy, their abiding faith in the Almighty, their inherent belief in the goodness in all mankind.

  • Where so many names and dates appear it is almost impossible to avoid errors in one or the other. The compiler will appreciate being advised of any errors which should be corrected.
