Biography

Lydia D Davidson was the daughter of William Montgomery Davidson (1845-1939) and Sarah Rosetta Morris (1848-1928), born on 30 Aug 1886 and grew up in North Harrisburg and South Brownsville, Linn County, Oregon.[1][2]

Lydia and Clinton Floyd Morse were married on 18 Oct 1911 in Brownsville, Linn County, Oregon.[3]

Clinton Floyd Morse and Lydia D Davidson had the following children:

  • Joseph Davidson Morse (1912-2002)
  • Shirley K (Morse) Kuehl Dowding Morgan (1914-2008)
  • Esther Carol (Morse) Brock (1916-1999)
  • Forrest Webster Morse (1918-2011)
  • William Franklin Morse (1921-2013)
  • Rose Alice (Morse) Trenholm (1923-1992)

When they first married, Clinton supported the family as a carpenter, but by the 1920s, he had turned to farming in Linn County. He and Lydia raised their six children in west Brownsville and Tangent, and remained in the Harrisburg area through the 1940s.[4][5][6][7][8][9]

Clinton died in a Lebanon hospital on 19 Sep 1968 at age 83 and was buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Harrisburg, Linn County, Oregon.[10][11][12]

Lydia died at a nursing home in Lebanon on 11 Nov 1975 at age 89 and was buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Harrisburg, Linn County, Oregon. Her obituary appeared in the Albany Democrat-Herald on 12 Nov 1975.[13][14][15][16]
“LEBANON- Lydia D. Morse, 89, Rt. 3 Box 13, died Tuesday afternoon at a nursing home here. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lebanon First Christian Church with the Rev. William Siefke officiating. Vault interment follows at Masonic Cemetery near Harrisburg. Jost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born Aug. 30, 1886 in Harrisburg, daughter of William and Rose Davidson. She had lived her entire life in Linn County. She married Clinton F. Morse Oct. 18, 1911 in Brownsville. He died Sept. 19, 1968. She was a member of Lebanon First Christian Church. Survivors include three sons, Joe and Forrest, both of Lebanon, and William of Harrisburg; three daughters, Shirley Kuell of Canby, Esther Brock of Harrisburg and Rose Trenholm of Sweet Home; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.”
