Biography

This profile is part of the St Helens, Lancashire One Place Study.

Richard Davies was born in about 1824 in Eccleston, Lancashire. He was the son of Richard and Alice Davies.

By June 6th 1841, the family were living in Eccleston; Richard's father was a farmer, his brother George was an agricultural labourer.

Richard married Jane Davies on 8 Feb 1846 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of full age (21 or more) and lived in Eccleston, and neither had been married before. Richard was a labourer. Their fathers were named as Richard Davies (labourer) and John Davies (labourer). The witnesses were Richard Garner and Ellen Roberts.
