Biography

John was born in 1820

John Davies emigrated to New Zealand arriving in Nelson, June 10 1842 and is recorded as arriving on the ship 'Eagle'

Five years later, aged 26, he married Amelia Newth at the Cathedral in Nelson.

They settled in Dovedale and over the next 20 years 11 children were born.

John worked as a Labourer.

Noted as being granted old age pension of 18 Pounds per year [1]

John Davies died in 1902 age 82 and is buried at Dovedale Cemetery, Tasman.
