Arthur was born in 1863. He is the son of John Llewelyn Davies, vicar of Kirkby Lonsdale, and Mary Compton.[1][2]
Following his education at Marlborough School, Arthur matriculated to Trinity College, Cambridge University on June 13, 1881. In 1884, he received his B.A., was the winner of the Le Bas Prize, and was admitted to Inner Temple - all in the same year. Arthur became a Whewell Scholar in 1887, and was called to the Bar in 1889.[3]
Arthur was a barrister by trade. Father of the 5 young boys who inspired the story of Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. Arthur died at the age of 44 from a carcinoma in his cheek that the doctors were unable to remove even though they removed most of his upper jaw in the attempt.
He married Sylvia du Maurier, daughter of the cartoonist George du Maurier, in 1892.[4]
