Thomas Davies was baptised in Nolton parish church in 1841 the son of William and Ann Davies. Thomas can be found on the 1851 census for Nolton, living at the family home with his parents. Thomas’s parents died sometime between 1851 and 1861. Thomas can be found with his siblings on the 1861 census for Nolton, these are, his sister Margaret, and brother David, also at the address is his niece Ellen Davies, born 1857 in Nolton. In 1866 Thomas Davies married Ann Davies, the daughter of Thomas and Esther Davies, the marriage took place at Nolton parish church. One of the witnesses was Richard Davies, Possibly a relation of one side of the family, but as yet I have not traced him. By the 1871 census the couple can be found in Nolton parish, and Thomas is working as a collier. With them at the family home are two of their children, John born 1867 at Newgale Bridge, and Mary Ann born 1868 at Roch. As yet I have not researched the 1881 census for the area and have no data regarding the couple. We skip forward to 1891 and the couple can be found on the census for Roch parish, living at the Lower Folly, with them is their daughter Mary Ann, she is now aged 23. The 1901 census sees the couple at the same location, in Lower Folly, but are now alone, the children having flown the nest. As yet I have not researched Thomas or Ann beyond 1901, if anyone has any data regarding the couple please feel free to update their profiles. Written by Keith Rees 2016
