Lizzie's father John Davies died when she was five years old and her mother Sarah Jane Crocombe remarried. Her stepfather, Lemuel Eusta(n)ce worked on the farm where Lizzie and her family had been living. Lizzie gained three stepbrothers. The combined family lived at Blaenavon where Lemuel's family lived and then at the Goose and Cuckoo at Llanover, Pontllanfraith, near Blackwood. Lizzie worked at Amroth Castle, Pembrokeshire, until she married at the age of 21. She came to Blackwood as a bride and lived there until 1975 when declining health and the demolition of her cottage, 1 Woodlands, forced her to move to an old people's complex at Risca.[1] NOTE: Lizzie's stepfather Lemuel Eustace's second wife Martha Lewis Little worked as a cook at Armroth Castle. [2]
Lizzie and Arthur Evans lived at #1 Woodlands Cottages, Thornecombe Road, Blackwood, Monmouthshire from prior to WW II, until the cottage was demolished c1978.

The residents were relocated to a brand new, empty complex at Ty Isaf, where they were expected to stay permanently. A photo accompanying the newspaper clipping describing this event, shows Lizzie as the second seated on the left.
