Born in Cardiff Glamorgan Wales. Lived in Llandaff for my first 7 years - my Dad's roots were in Llangollen area - Trefor and Froncysylltau. My mother was born in Weymouth Dorset but spent most of her adult years in London including a stint as an air raid warden in early WWII. I remember the day my brother was born at home during the big snow of 1947. On December 28th.1950 we left the UK and emigrated to Canada on the Queen Mary - landing in New York through Ellis Island and then by train overnight to Toronto. January 1951 - My Dad was now the minister of Yorkminster Baptist Church in Toronto . I attended a public elementary school for 2 years and was desperately unhappy there - bored because the education level for my age group was a couple of years behind what I had been learning in the UK - and was relentlessly bullied because I was "different". My parents then opted for me to attend a private school where class sizes were smaller and I might experience a more positive schooling. After high school I entered nursing school at Womens College Hospital graduating as an RN in 1966. I married and have a son and 2 daughters. After working in a variety of Nursing positions for 43 years I retired in 2010 and thought I'd have time to devote to my family tree for which I had developed a keen interest - the result of some family "secrets" or "mysteries". I love the search and solving puzzles - not just genealogy but also crosswords and Suduko! My research time is much more limited than I would like as 2 of my 4 grandchildren have special needs and I assist their mother frequently. I also volunteer in a thrift shop a couple times a week - all of which keeps me busy!! Looking forward to growing my family tree and hopefully breaking down a couple of brick walls.
