Residence 1881 CENSUS: Llanycrwys, Carmarthenshire; Bachystarn Farm: Evan and Mary Davies are living in a household with their children: David, 18; Mary, 10; Jane, 9; Ann, 7; David Thomas, 5; and Richard, 10 months. Evan is 56 years of age, born c 1832 in Llanycrwys, Carmarthenshire and is a farmer of 76 acres. His wife Mary is 41, born c1840 at Cellan (sic) Cardiganshire.[2]
1891 CENSUS: Llanycrwys, Carmarthenshire; Bachystarn Farm: (town of Forest) Head of household Evan Davies, 59 (b c1832) b Llanycrwys, Carmarthenshire, farmer. His wife Mary, 51, b Cellau, Cardiganshire; children: Samuel M, 26, draper's assistant; Mary, 20, dressmaker; Anne, 17, farmer's daughter; David T., 15, farmer's son; Richard, 10 and Daniel, 7 both scholars. All of the children were born in Llanycrwys, Carmarthenshire, and all of the family members speak Welsh.[3]
