Biography

William was born and raised in Unionville, Missouri, the son of John Davis and Martha "Patsy" Jones, who were pioneers from Clinton County, Kentucky. On 1 March 1885 he married Mary Minear, the daughter of David Minear and Phoebe Forbes. Their son Clarence Hart Davis was born in Unionville on 26 April 1888. William and Mary divorced in September 1895; William married Amie Hatch in Albia, Iowa on 26 December 1896. They had four children: Gladys M., Everett E., Earl V., and Bernice. Amie passed away in 1929, and in 1932 William married Elizabeth York. He spent the last ten years of his life with Elizabeth in West Plains, Missouri. William had 8 years of schooling and was a farmer most of his life. He was a charter member of the United Brethren church, and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.[1]
