Birth:
Date: JUL 1836
SDATE 15 JUL 1836
Place: Wheelock, Vermont
Note: In the 1900 Census, Emily reports that she was born in July of 1837 in Vermont. Her marriage record indicates her birthplace was Wheelock, as does the birth record of her youngest son, Clyde Davis Templeton. Her obituary indicates she was born in Walden.
Her father's Bible indicates that she was born July 3, 4, or 11. July 3 appears on the back flyleaf. The date on the page between the New Testament and the Psalms could be either a "4" or an "11."[1]
Found multiple copies of BIRT DATE. Using JUL 1836

Note: Obituary
Mrs. Emily Templeton
Mother of Mrs. Lewis H. Pollard
Died Suddenly on Friday at Her Home On East State Street.
Mrs. Emily Templeton, widow of Robinson Templeton, died late Friday morning at the home of Mrs. Lewis H. Pollard, her daughter, of heart disease. Mrs. Templeton had not been in the best of health for some time but not thought to be in a critical condition until Friday when she grew worse very rapidly. Mrs. Pollard was almost prostrated with the suddenness of the shock.
Emily Davis was born in Walden seventy-three years ago and had resided in Montpelier about ten years. She was employed for over 15 years as a tailoress by Woolson Brothers and made an army overcoat for General Butler while he was in the city recruiting forces. General Butler was so gratified with the excellent style of the garment that he asked to be introduced to its maker. Mrs. Templeton is survived by five children, Mrs. Pollard of this city, Clyde Templeton of Laconia, N.H., Mrs. W.J. Pollard of Brandon, Miss Clara Templeton of California, and Mrs. William Shepard of Brattleboro. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Martha Reed of this city.
Mr. Pollard was spending a few days at his old home in New Hampshire and was summoned to this city by Mrs. Templeton's death.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 o'clock on Sunday morning from 31 East State Street, Rev. S.F. Blomfield officiating.
Place: 103 Elm Street, Montpelier, Washington County, Vermont
Note: Emily's youngest children, Edith and Clyde were living with her in this rented house. It was just down the street from Clyde's fiancéé, Anna Mayo (67 Elm Street).
Emily lists her date of birth as "July, 1837" in this census. She seems to get dates wrong quite frequently as she also signed a notarized statement with the wrong date for Clyde's birth and had to create a second statement correcting the first.
Note: A copy of the marriage certificate received from Charles Pollard indicates that they were married on May 13, 1870. Affixed to the certificate is a five cent stamp with the words, "Inter Revenue Certificate."
Vermont Vital Records online at ancestry.com indicates they were married on May 13, 1870.[10][11][12][13]
