Homestead
Samuel Davis purchased, in 1696, the homestead in the west part of Bedford, then Concord. It was conveyed to Samuel, Sr. by John Jones, Jr., Samuel Hartwell, Sr., Joseph Dean, and Nathaniel Harwood, of Concord.
The dwelling (1891) is on the site of the original house, up high, overlooking the Concord River. It faces in the same southerly direction. For the first century and a half it was painted red; but was changed to white after some repairs.
The homestead has passed through six generations from Samuel, every heir being named Eleazer until Benjamin Josiah was born in 1810; and, later, became the heir. Thirty-eight Davis children were born in the first five generations on this estate. This estate is regarded as remarkably well located for healthfulness; and, longevity was noted in the family which has been prominent in the history of the town and church ever since the incorporation in 1729. Davis-61490 and Davis-186 are not ready to be merged because: There are too many discrepancies between the two profiles. The only things that seem to match are his name and the name of his spouse.
Davis-61490 and Davis-186 appear to represent the same person because: Both have same wife, but info in Davis 186 appears more reliable. Hester was born prior to marriage and likely does not belong to these parents!
Davis-10856 and Davis-186 are not ready to be merged because: According to GM series, his second wife was Ruth Taylor, not Rhoda Taylor Parsons. She should be detached from 10856- before merging. Thanks
Davis-10856 and Davis-186 do not represent the same person because: Rhoda Taylor, daughter of Robert and Thankful: married Samuel Parsons in 1691; died before her husband Parsons.
Davis-38818 and Davis-186 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicates between global tree and unconnected (Error report #206), must be merged. Thank you!
Mary Waters is the wife of Samuel Davis Davis-120 and should be removed from this profile.
Then this profile should be merged into Davis-186.
