Biography
"Dr. James Dorr Davis was the oldest son of Nehemiah and Phoebe (Dorr) Davis. His family moved from Maine to Athens County, Ohio, when he was two years old. Dr. Davis fathered ten children by his first wife, Martha Pugsley (1797-1832), and ten more children by his second wife, Marcie James (1809-1856).
Inscription: Dr. Jas. Dorr Davis died Oct. 7, 1871 aged 75 Y. 10 M. 18 D."[1]
Research Notes
"Birth date should not be within eight months of a sibling's birth date" is not a valid error here. Brother was born in July of the following year.
