YARBROUGH - William Yarbrough Sr, born ca. 1770 and thought to be son of Joshua and Suzanna Thompson Yarbrough, came to Hardeman County from White County, TN around 1840. His son James arrived here in 1838, followed by others in the family. william Yarbrough marred Martha (West?) in South Carolina and moved to Tennessee. William and Martha had the following children: James, Sarah, Benjamin, Suzannah, Rebecca, Wade Hampton, Jeptha. William Yarbrough Sr. has been mistakenly identified as a private in Brinkley's Cavalry during the American Revolution. This has been proven to be another William Yarbrough. William and Martha joined Antioch Misionary Baptist Church near Toone in 1840. They were in Gibson County with their daughter Mahulda Sanders after the 1850 census. They sold land in Hardeman County, William Jr., in 1852. …. William Yarbrough Jr. married Feb 25, 1836 to Hannah Ada Davis, daughter of Agustus Parks Davis. Hannah's sister Celia Davis married George P Yarbrough. William and Hannah had the elderly Augustus in their household in 1850. George became executor of the Augustus's estate.
