Dinah (Davis) Ellingworth was born in Leicestershire, England.

Dinah Davis was born in 1845 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England. She was the daughter of Joseph Davis and Frances Adcock. ^[1][2]

In 1851, Dinah Davis (5) was living with her parents, Joseph (48, a stoker) and Frances (44, a mender) and three older siblings, Samuel (18, a winder), Emma (16, a mender) and Frederick (10, a winder) in The Newarke, Leicester, the place where she was born (N.B. The Newarke in Leicester's name derives from "The new work". It is an area of the city that is now largely occupied by De Montfort University and should not be confused with Newarke, Nottinghamshire. Menders and winders are jobs in the hosiery trade, which was a major industry in Leicester). ^[3]

In 1861, Dinah (15, a Mender Of Hosiery) was living with her father, Joseph (58, a factory fireman and stoker), mother, Frances (54) and one brother, Frederick (20, a shoe finisher) in Castle View, Leicester. ^[4].

Dinah Davis was married to Josiah Ellingworth in 1868 in Leicester. ^[5]

In 1871, Dinah Ellingworth (25) and her husband, Josiah (24, a painter employing 1 man and 1 boy, born in Billesdon, Leicestershire) were living at 13 Saint Martins, Leicester with two children, Annie (2) and Katie (1). ^[6]

In 1881, Dinah Ellingworth (35) and her husband, Josiah Brown Ellingworth (34, a painter) had seven daughters, Annie (12), Catherine (11), Elizabeth (9), Emily (7), Louisa (5), Ruth (3) and Clara (1) living with them at 13 Saint Martins, Leicester, which is recorded as being the place of Dinah's birth. ^[7]

In 1891, Dinah Ellingworth (45) and her husband, Josiah B Ellingworth (44, a painter and paper hanger) had nine daughters and one son - Annie (22), Catherine (21), Elizabeth (19), Emily (17), Louisa (15), Ruth (13) Clare (11), Mabel (9), Josiah W (7) and Grace (4). Clare (21, shop assistant, drapery), Mabel (19, a milliner), Josiah W (17, house painter) and Grace (14) living with them at 11-13, St Martins, Leicester. ^[9]

In 1911, Dinah Ellingworth (65) and her husband, Josiah B Ellingworth (64, a master house painter, employer) had Elizabeth (39, single, a dressmaker, own account), Mabel (29, single mother's help), Josiah W (27, single, a painter) and Grace (24, single, assisting in the business) living with them at 11-13, St Martins, Leicester. ^[10]

Dinah Ellingworth died in 1932 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England. ^[11]
