In the 1920 Census, his occupation is listed as " Road Boss" on the "Public Roads." He is listed as a gardener on the 1930 Census. He lived in Summer Hill, Briar Creek Township, Columbia County, Pennsylvania and died in the Berwick Hospital in Berwick, Columbia County, PA, at the age of 81. His death certificate states that he was a retired widower at the time of his death. He is buried in the Summerhill (a.k.a. Summer Hill) Cemetery, Summerhill, Briar Creek Township, Columbia County, PA.

Pertaining to his home as stated in the 1870 Lycoming County, PA, Census (faded and somewhat hard to read) -- "1870: Mifflin, Lycoming, Pennsylvania: Post Office: Jersey Mills, Household #38/38 -- John EDWARDS, 66, b. PA, 'laborer keeping house' and William DAVIS, aged 6 years, b. PA, 'at home'" . . .
