Biography

Maggie was born in 1875. She was the daughter of Turner Davis and Margaret White.

In the 1880 census ^[1] Maggie (age 4) (listed as Mary C is living with her half brothers Miles H. (age 20) and Edwin Dickey Plowden (age 19) and her siblings Hannah Jane (age 13), Frances (age 11) and Joel (age 7). Maggies father had passed away the year prior and the whereabouts of the mother is undetermined.

Maggie married Nicholas Ware Britton. In the 1900 census ^[2] she is living in Plowden Mills Township, Clarendon, South Carolina with her husband Nicholas, and their infant daughter Zola Mae. In the 1910 census ^[3] Maggie is still living in Plowden Mills with her husband and now, four children; Zola Mae (age 10), Walter (age 7), Anna B. (age 5), and James Clinton (age 2).

Maggie's husband Nick passed away in September, 1916. In the 1920 census ^[4] she is a widow mom living in Plowden Mills with her six children; Zola (age 19), Walter (age 17), Anna (age 14), Clinton (age 12), Addie (age 9), and Frances (age 3).

Maggie passed away in 1951 ^[5] and is buried in Sumter Cemetery, Sumter, Sumter County, South Carolina. ^[6]
