Larry Eugene Davis was born August 2, 1952 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was the son of Paul Davis and Elizabeth Hampel.
Larry served during the Vietnam on the USS Cleveland which refueled Marine helicopters. He was in aviation fuels.
When he returned to Fort Wayne, he worked many years for the Napoleon Creamery Co. "In the 1970s the Napoleon Creamery Co. increased their cheese sales and distribution area. A warehouse facility was set up in Fort Wayne, Indiana to help with distribution in that area. Cheese sales in 1981 totaled 1.5 million pounds, or $2.7 million. Butter sales were 1.3 million pounds, or $2.1 million. Total company sales were $6,233,337."[1] When the Fort Wayne distribution closed, he went to work for the Munchie Emporium which later became the Mad Anthony Brewing Co.[2] He retired in 2018.
He was an excellent Scrabble player and an avid chess player on chess.com. When the Covid-19 lockdown began chess.com opened their site to the children as a way to relieve their boredom. Larry began a forum thread called 🎨 Art for All....The Art Gallery 🎨. It became very popular with children and adults. At his death April 12, 2021, many tributes were posted in The Art Gallery. Another thread cheeseburger- no cheese...we deliver! 🍔🍟🥤 showed his light hearted good cheer and sense of humor which he never lost. He will be missed by many. R.I.P. 52Yrral, the memorial thread created for him, received over 200 posts the first 24 hours. Goodbye dear brother.
