Elonzo P. Davis, one of Bakersfield's oldest residents, perhaps the oldest and associated with the life of the community ever since 1871, passed away at his home on Holtby Rd. last evening after a brief illness. According to present arrangements the funeral service will be held in the Flickinger-Digler Chapel on Monday at 10 o'clock. Interment to take place in the family plot in Union Cemetery.
Lou Davis, as he was widely known throughout the county, was a member of an old southern family, born in Arkansas in 1853, he having celebrated his eighty-fourth birthday last Nov. with his parents he crossed the plains in a covered wagon and after a short residence at El Monte in 1869, he came to Bakersfield two years later and this has been his home continuously in all the years since then.
