Biography

Caroline Davis was born in 1841 at Chadlington in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of John Davis and his wife Hannah, born Hannah Townsend or Townshend. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}

At the time of the 1841 census Caroline Davice [sic] was living at Chadlington with John and Hanna Davice (presumably her parents) and William Davice (presumably her brother). Her age was given as 2 months, implying a birth date in about April 1841. ^[5]

In 1851 Caroline Davis was living at Sarsgrove Lodge at Churchill in Oxfordshire with her parents, John and Hannah, and their other children. Her age was given as 10, implying a birth date in 1840 or 1841. Her birthplace was given as Chadlington, Oxfordshire. She was at school. ^[2]

Alfred Townsend and Caroline Davis were married in or near Worcester in Worcestershire in 1865. ^[3]

In 1871 Caroline Townsend was living in the West End of Chadlington with her husband Alfred, their children, their uncle Thomas Townsend, and their aunt Sarah Huckin. Her age was given as 29, implying a birth date in 1841 or 1842. Her birthplace was given as Chadlington, Oxfordshire. She was a boot binder. ^[4]
