Johanna Davis was born about the year 1841 in Ballygarran, The Spa, Tralee.^[1] She was the youngest daughter of John Davis and Johanna Flaherty who had a farm in Ballygarran.

Marriage to Jeremiah Shanahan

Johanna married Jeremiah Shanahan of Muckenagh, Lixnaw on the 10th February 1861 in Ardfert Parish Church.^[2] Jeremiah Shananhan was the son of Dan and Kate Loughnane Shanahan. He was born about 1842.^[3] Johanna inherited the farm at Ballygarron. So with her marriage to Jeremiah Shanahan what had been a Davis farm now became a Shanahan farm.

7. Kate Shanahan. Born in 1871,^[12] She died as an infant in the same year.^[13]
8. Jeremiah Shanahan (b. 1872).^[14] Possibly died as an infant at 4 years of age.^[15]

13. Ellen “Nellie” Shanahan (b. 1883). She married Florence O’Connor, ^[19] Publican and Grocer in William Street, Listowel. FLorence (1874 - 1936)^[20] was the son of Jermiah O'Connor and Mary McCarthy. They were farmers in Coolanonaught, Tarbert^[21] and later had the business in Listowel ^[22] Florence died in 1936. ^[23]

Johanna Davis Shanahan died in Ballygarran, Spa, Tralee in July of 1911.^[24]
Her husband Jeremiah Shanahan died in November of 1915.^[25]
