Biography

Born 17 OCT 1850. Pennsylvania[1]

Marriage William Vinson Alexander and Martha Elizabeth Davis

Died AUG 1930. Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma. [2]

Buried AUG 1930. Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma. [3]

Note:
Martha's parents were Thomas P Davis of Wales, and Elizabeth, who was from New York. By 1860 her family had moved from New York, settling in the Creek Nation, Indian Lands, Arkansas.

In 1874, Martha married William Vinson Alexander. The Oklahoma Historical Society's Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History & Culture states that in 1881 William & Martha established a store near the present day town of Alex, Grady County, where Martha served as postmistress. The town was named in his honor.

Martha and William V had 5 children, all born and raised in Oklahoma: Perry Davis Alexander, Sheb W Alexander, Martha Leslie (Alexander) Reynolds, Tolbert Love (Bert) Alexander, and Robert E. Alexander.[4]
