↑Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Vol. 1. Text: "By his first marriage he became the father of nine children, namely: Charles, George, Lewis, Harmon, John, Rebecca, Hattie, Sarah and Leah." Note: To this list must be added a tenth child - Mary Horn, born in 1821. She could not have been the child of the second marriage. - Albertus
↑ Mary's Death Certificate, however, gives her mother's name as Molly Hess. Molly Hess and Catherine Davis might well be one and the same person: perhaps the person who reported Mary's death remembered Mary's mother's name wrongly, and Catherine Davis is her mother; or perhaps Molly Hess is the mother of Mary, and Catherine Davis - the mother of the eldest nine children: or pehaps Catherine Davis never existed and Molly Hess is the mother of all ten children of the first marriage. - Albertus
