Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Anne (Lee) McCarty was a Virginia colonist.

Ann was born c. 1683 at Westmoreland County, Virginia, the daughter of Richard Lee, member of Council,[1] and Lettice Corbin.[citation needed]

Birth date is a guess, based on her marriage in 1706 (birth of her first child)
The Birth Date is a rough estimate. See the text for details.

Family

Ann married at least twice.

  • Ann married before 1706 to William Fitzhugh.[1]
  • After William's death (before November 8, 1713), she married Captain Daniel McCarty, of Westmoreland County, Speaker of the House of Burgesses.[1]
  • Some sources indicating that Ann married Henry Tapscott-113 have been questioned.

Children of William and Ann:[1]

  1. Henry Fitzhugh b 1706; mar Lucy Carter
  2. Lettice Fitzhugh b July 15, 1707; mar George Turberville
  3. Sarah Fitzhugh b 1710; mar Edward Barradall

Death and Legacy

Ann, as Mrs. McCarthy, wrote her will on November 7, 1728, and it was proved on May 31, 1732 in Westmoreland County.[1]

Ann Mary Lee. [2] Ann Mary Fitzhugh. Given Name: Ann Mary. Surname: Fitzhugh. Married Name: Fitzhugh. A Given name was found in addition to a first name in the NAME tag.

Died 12 Jan 1732. Eagles Nest, King George, Virginia, United States. [3]

Research Notes

Reliable sources on Ann Lee Davis are lacking, see especially page 16 of [4] There is considerable doubt that this person's LNAB was Davis. Evidence that her LNAB was Lee overweighs.

Davis-56974 and Lee-532 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, parents, and siblings. Lee-532 indicates rough estimate on date. Lee is LNAB.

Lee-32150 and Lee-532 appear to represent the same person because: Hi there,

These two people seem to represent the same person and one needs a Profile Manager. I removed Lee-32150 as the spouse of George Booth. I am a descendant and have researched this family extensively. I feel confident he did not have more than one wife.

Sincerely, Lili Booth Hammond

Hi We have multiple listings of the same people, it would be good if we could work together and merge them.
