When Jane Spooner Davis was born on January 5, 1805, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, her father, Nicholas, was 35, and her mother, Ruth, was 34. She married Alexander Howland on September 15, 1833, in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. They had four children in 13 years.
